CIOs are always on ..

Sadly true, we as well as manyof our senior staff are awlys on, taking calls, requests for ad hoc reports for someone to prepare for a meeting, dealing with a security threat or just working on our endless backlog.

It did not need research or a study to tell us that CIOs are always on .. especially when compared to heads of HR or Finance.

But we are not yet at the same level in terms of management and influence.

CIOs need to do more to promote their work.

I think you need to be in IT in order to appreciate how tough a job it is .. they job of the CIO.

And CIOs never get enough credit for what they do. Working late nights and weekends, having your mobile on 24x7 and never getting enough budget to do what the business needs or to keep your infrastructure up to date.
